Duke Ellington

The IJO presents its 15-piece repertory orchestra performing the Ottawa premiere of:

S u c h   S w e e t   T h u n d e r   (S h a k e s p e a r e a n   S u i t e)

A 12-movement suite in which instruments depict characters from over ten of Shakepeare's plays.
The first Canadian performance in 50 years!

William Shakespeare

Each movement of the suite will be preceded by excerpts from the relevant plays performed by
actors from the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival and Ottawa's Company of Fools.

Henry Purcell

Musical excerpts from the semi-opera The Fairy-Queen performed by the Ottawa Baroque Consort.

Readings from A Midsummer Night's Dream performed by the actors.

A Medieval Art Experience

An exhibit of medieval-styled painting and manuscript illumination works by artist Kathryn Finter.

Renaissance and early Baroque guitar music performed by Garry Elliott.
